The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a reported death of an inmate at the Bradley County jail. The AP is reporting the death came following a fight.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office spokesman James Bradford says inmate Billy Joe Rogers died Sunday at a Chattanooga hospital, three days after he was found unresponsive in the Bradley County Jail.

NewsChannel 9 asked Bradley County’s communications coordinator James Bradford his manner or death or who found him but were told it’s in the early investigation stage with the TBI.

The sheriff’s office says Rogers had being jailed on a charge of failing to appear in court on felony charges accusing him of allowing his dogs to run loose and maul a woman last May.
